Toning

What is toning?

TO remove the greasiness which appears on the face after the use of a cleanse, you definitely need to use a toner. This product will pick up the last bit of cleanser that you may have missed which in turn, could cause more breakouts.

How to use a toner?

Put a few drops of toner on a piece of cotton wool and apply it on the face and leave it on.

Tip

For extra oily skins, use ASTINGENT LOTION instead of a toner. An astringent is a strongtoner which affectively removes excessive oiliness besides toning and refreshing the skin.

Importance of toning

It contracts muscles, refines (shrinks) pores, absorbs the oil and grease immediately, leaving behind a fresh, radiant skin. Use it to see the immediate difference it makes to your complexion. Astringents and toners closes the pores, stimulates circulation, prepares the skin to absorb nutrition from the moisturizer that follow. Lastly helps in refreshing and cooling the skin clearing away excess oil, impurities and dead skin cells that were not removed with your cleanser. It also helps balance the pH of the skin.

Toners for your skin

A wide variety of toners are available. We should avoid those products that contain alcohol ,colors or artificial fragrance. Alcohol dries the skin and harms the soluble collagen below the surface of the skin. A toner should be appropriate for your skin type .

Essential oils:

They are the gentlest way of toning up. Rose water is best for normal or dry/sensitive skin and can be applied with cotton wool .

Apple cidar vinagar: Add 3/4 Apple cider vingar to 1/4 Water and is suitable for all skin types.Splash it on your face and leave it for some time or simply swipe with the help of a cotton ball. If the smell bothers you Then leave it for sometime on your face and splash off with cool water.

Basil leaves: Boil basil leaves in water and use it for washing face.It is excellent for acne and an over toner too. It also reduces redness and calms the skin .It can be used every day and you can use your moisturizer and/or makeup over it too.

Impt:Rose, sandalwood and cucumber would be good choices for toners

Spiritizer: If your toner is a spritzer, close your eyes and gently mist on face and neck. Then apply the toner with cotton ball with smooth, gentle upward strokes

Note:Some toners can be really expensive and hard to find for you skin type. Basically what you do after cleansing is just run a sponge or cotton wool under some cold (not freezing) water and dab onto your face. This gets rid of excess cleanser which hasnt washed off and it also tightens the pores

Toners for dry skin: Avoid toners and makeup that contain alcohol as alcohol-based products have a drying effect on skin.
