Dental care

It is person’s teeth is properly cared then they can last for a lifetime. Healthy teeth makes the person’s smile beautiful. Healthy teeth are key to a healthy child hood. Kids need them for chewing, speaking clearly and having and wonderful smile. Due to proper dental care, today’s children are more likely than ever to grow up with strong, healthy teeth. But it neglect adequate dental care, then it can lead to the pain, inconvenience and the cost of the restoring them to the original health and functions seem to be too much heavy.

Moreover, in case of children it’s the moral responsibility of parents to educate the child regarding oral care. It is especially important to keep the child enthusiastic and motivated about caring for his or her teeth. A life time of the good oral healthy can be a reality for the child if the parents for the child if the parents get him or her off on the right track early. Therefore, we can say that the dental case is worth the effort made to maintain it.

The main aim of proper oral care or Dental is to prevent dental decay and gum disease. Inorder to attain this, there is generally the combined effort of the dentist and patient. Nobody, alone can sort out the problem.

(i) Correct brushing, flossing and plaque control.

(ii) Correct diet.

(iii) Fluoride therapy.

(iv) Use of Fissure Sealants.

Toothbrushing

Controls the plaque deposition. It is because normally the mouth bacteria becomes organized into scum on the tooth surface in order to cause decay of the tooth or any form of gum disease.

This sum is called the plaque. Most of the tooth decay occurs on the grooved chewing surfaces and between teeth. Each time sugar is eaten, it is broken down into acid by the plaque and may cause decay. Hence, the frequency of sugar intake should be controlled. Plaque may be cleaned off with correct brushing and floss.

 
Simple steps of brushing are as Follow:

(1) Clean the outside of all upperteath with short gentle vibrating back and forth strokes paying special attention to the areas where teeth and gums meet.

(2) Clean the inside surface of all upper teeth with the same short gentle vibrating back and forth strokes.

(3) Report on the outside and inside surfaces of all the upper and lower teeth.

(4) Cleaning the inner surfaces of the both the upper and lower teeth is made easier by tilting the brush.

(5) Brushing biting surface of both upper and lower teeth with short gentle vibrating back and forth strokes.

Brushing should be done thoroughly and effectively at least twice a day. Once in the morning once before going to bed. Flossing should be atleast once a day to keep plaque from building up.

(ii) A well Balanced diet is the key to oral health and a body that is strong and free from disease. So it’s important that the person choose a nutritious diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals. These vital nutrients and minerals can be found in the four basic foods. They are fruits and vegetables, breads and cereals, milk and dairy products, meat and fish. Person should not eat sweet or sticky foods between meals. He/she should limit the frequency of snacking, especially of foods high in sugar and cookies. Person should be beware of foods that he keeps in his mouth for a long period of time, because they give plaque more time to produce acids that attack tooth enamel.

(iii) Fluoride Therapy

Fluoride containing toothpastes have shown a drastic reduction in dental decay. Fluoridated toothpastes should be used daily at home to strengthen the teeth and inhibit the growth of plaque bacteria that cause decay. Fluorides provide unbeatable protection against germs and cavities.

(iv) Pits and Lissure sealants are also used to prevent the development of caries and hence guarantees the long lasting natural teeth. Hence, the individual taking proper dental care shows a beautiful smile whole life time.
