Acne
Acne is a disorder which occurs mainly due to the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands commonly known as Sebaceous glands. Acne are found over most of the body like it may be seen on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.
Though, Acne is not a severe or dangerous health problem but if present for much longer time, it can lead to disfigurement of face or body parts. It may also lead to permanent scarring which may upset the people who are affected by it.
Types of acne lesions
(a) Pimples: Pimples are also known as Pustules. There are normally pus-filled lesions that are red at base
(b) Nodules: There are large in size and are placed deep within the skin. They are quite painful.
(c) Cysts: Cysts are also painful. They are deeply situated. Cystic lesions contain pus, hence can lead to scarring.
Treatment of acne lesions
Person should not fear Acne, as something untreatable. Nowadays lots of therapies are available for the treatment of Acne. It can be easily controllable. Person suffering from Acne, should wash his/her face with mild antibacterial soap.
It is recommended at least twice a day, but if the skin is too much oily then person may wash it quite often. But over washing or scrubbing should be avoided because it may lead to irritation of the skin and finally may worsen the acne.
Acne sufferer should not keep their hair oily and keep the hair away from the face. Greasy cosmetic such as Vaseline, cold cream, cocoa butter and Vitamin E oil should be avoided. Moreover, the cosmetics should be water based. If the patient consumes well balanced diet, then also acne can be prevented. Person should avoid eating things, to which he is allergic.
Moreover, skin specialists known as Dermatologists are also helpful. Mild acne creams and solutions. Moderate and severe acne are treated by the use of topical medicines with the addition of antibiotics. Acne surgery involves manually removing lesions i.e. blaceheads and whiteheads. Corticosteroid therapy is also helpful.
Acne scars can be treated by Chemical Peel in which the chemical agents are applied to the skin that causes the outer layer to be removed. Laser techniques are also used for the treatment of acne scars. We can say that the Treatment of acne is a continuing process, if use want to control it completely.
