Acne
Acne is a disorder which occurs mainly due to the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands commonly known as Sebaceous glands. Acne are found over most of the body like it may be seen on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.
Though, Acne is not a severe or dangerous health problem but if present for much longer time, it can lead to disfigurement of face or body parts. It may also lead to permanent scarring which may upset the people who are affected by it.
How does acne develop
Normally, the sebaceous gland forms an oily substance called sebum. This sebum is secreted onto the skin surface through a canal called follicle. The opening of the follicle is known as pore.
Acne occurs when the hair, rebum or cells known as keratinocytes completely fills the follicle thus producing a plug. This plug formation prevents the rebum to reach the surface of the skin through a pore and thus leading to development of Acne.
In the acne rejoin there is ingrowth of bacteria which leads information. Inflammation is characterized by heat, redness, swelling and pain. So, when the follicle, breaks, down it releases everything contained in it like bacterial products, rebum, etc. into the surrounding skin and thus leading to formation of pimple.
Generally, the lesion of acne in also known by other name such as Comedo. If the acne lesion remains below the skin, then it is term as closed comedo not if the reaches the surface of the skin then is termed as opened Comedo.
Causes of acne
The main cause of acne is the increase in production of harmone called Androgens. The androgens are also known as Male sex harmones. There is increase in secretion of thus hormone both in girls and boys during the stage of Purberty. During Purberty, the increase in hormonal secretion, leads to enlargement of sebaceous gland and hence more sebum is produced and leading to Acne.
